- Buckle up! Seat belts are mandatory. If anyone in the front seat is not properly secured and belted in, the driver faces stiff fines.
- Children under the age of 4 must be seated in an approved child car seat.
- Children ages four and five must be secured in either a seat belt or approved child restraint seat.
- Right turns on red lights are permitted after a full stop, unless posted signs specify otherwise.
- Lights must be on when driving in the rain or fog.
- DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE! Florida takes a serious stance on this issue, so don’t even think of doing it. The police have the authority to seize the license of anyone arrested for driving under the influence or anyone refusing to submit to a a required sobriety, blood or urine test as ordered.
- The Florida Legislature authorized the Florida Department of Transportation to establish speed limits on state highways up to the following maximums: 70 mph on Interstates, 65 mph on a four-lane divided highway outside an urban area (with a population of 5,000 or more), and 60 mph on other state highways.
